Certainty

I came into contact with mania

With absolute certainty

That the light is green

That the road is clear

That the lights are on

And I’m standing there

On a certain road

With a certain “where”

And nobody can stop me going there

I bet that stop sign is just a dare

This painting

Is about resolve. Ask anybody who knows me - when I’m determined about something, nothing will stand between me and my goal. Determination is blinding in its ferocity and can be a remarkably powerful tool. Feeling that certainty and seeing green lights is euphoric in its clarity. But is the light green? Her eyes are certainly green. But there is a fair amount of yellow and even a bit of red in the painting as well. When the light is glowing green the last thing you want to do is stop. But certainty is not the same as being right. It just feels the same.
